Tak Kheong & Vanessa Wedding (26 September 2009)

This is probably one of the most interesting shooting in my entire life. The groom, bride and the most importantly the brothers are so sporting and presentable to make this shooting a success. The groom was laughing all the way from Penang to Kampar and never stops laughing all the way back to Penang. This group of brother really makes a lot of difference in this shooting. Congratulation! Loo and Vanessa.

The Voice of My Heart

Well, it has been a while taking wedding video. No doubt it is fun but some of the earnings go to new gadgets and partly has gone to medical fees. During the shooting, there is no spare time for break, not even have time to drink and take a snack. I pity myself. People don't care whether you hungry because you are paid to do this so you are not deserved to take a break. Haha, of course not all the clients are like this. Some of them are very kind too.

Before getting involved into this line, i always think that taking video is simple. Load the tape, plug in the battery and action. That's all. Well, yes it is but not for professional. When you turn yourself into more professional, many and many issues and requirements come to your mind like additonal lighting, sound, additinal battery pack, tripod and so on. All these are essential and they cannot be missed. As i said earlier, part of the profit will sure be invested in these equipments. I created a motto for myself. "Don't assume, Be sure". When shooting a real precious event like wedding, there is no way to ask the groom and bride to march in to the hall again, no way to ask them to open the second champane again because you miss the shot. There is no take two! You missed, you failed.

Operating steadicam is the most difficult part in video shooting. It may look nice in the video, but there are ugly faces behind the steadicam. The grievance and pain of handling the steadicam cannot be described. Many videographers will not invest in this machines because the cost is much much more higher than the proft. When are we going to hit the breakeven point? And yet, some people don't know what it is. With or without it, it is still a conventional video at lease to them.

When the first part (Shooting) is finished, now come the second part (Editing). Wedding events are normally held during the weekend, during the weekdays, I do editing after working hour. Digging the head to find idea how to produce a cinematic film. Background music plays a very important role here. 99.99% of the wedding videos come with beautiful song or music unless you're watching a funeral video. Next, the color. Adjusting the color is not an easy task at least for me. The brightness, contrast and white balance must take into consideration in order to produce a stunning cinematic video.

How can a videographer come out with an idea to take a good film? It is almost equivalent to musician to create a nice music i think.
